THE LIBERTINE |
|
Introduction: Being independently of fabulous wealth, and having inherited considerable lands, it becomes me to indulge my tastes and desires freely. As one who has embraced the enlightenment and the true wisdom of our age, I have liberated myself from all notions of any higher power to whom I am answerable. Rather I acknowledge that I am answerable solely to my own conscience. Being one blessed with having no such conscience I am indeed at liberty to delight in luxury without moral restraint. |
